Casino may not have the pizzazz of Goodfellas, but it is a riveting film that showcases how predatory life in organized crime can be. Robert De Niro is captivating as usual and Sharon Stone delivers a remarkable performance in her role as blonde hustler Ginger McKenna. Joe Pesci is unnerving as ruthless mobster Nicky Santoro.
The movie takes place in Vegas, but the plot lines can easily extend to any city or town with a casino. Mobster money flowed into casinos and gave them a veneer of legitimacy that legitimate businessmen were reluctant to accept. Mafia figures took sole or partial ownership of many casinos and used the funds for their drug dealing, extortion and other illegal rackets.
Gambling is a fun activity that can provide a rush when lady luck smiles upon you, but it’s not a way to get rich. It’s important to set aside a specific amount of money that you are willing to lose and stick to it. It also helps to create boundaries with others, and to never gamble with someone who you are not sure will be responsible.
There’s more to a casino than the gaming floor, including luxury accommodations, cutting-edge technology, flexible entertainment and event spaces, award-winning restaurants and unique shopping options. Marketing strategies must focus on elevating these areas in order to attract and retain new and repeat guests. Discoverability is a big component of this, which includes optimizing content for keywords related to amenities, location, unique offerings, and the latest events.
