To decide the best bet, each player will decide to either fold, raise or check. Folding is the least likely choice, and may mean losing the pot. To raise, players must either place a larger bet or match the previous bet.<\/p>\n
The best hand is one that combines two cards from your hand with three cards from the deck. For example, a five and six is a winning hand, requiring the jack on the turn and river. A straight is also a winning hand, but requires two outside cards.<\/p>\n
In most poker games, the ante is a small bet that the player must make before being dealt cards. It is typically a dollar or $5.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned ante is accompanied by a “big blind” or “small blind” bet. The big blind is usually smaller than the small blind, but the same player can always make a bigger bet.
